La “2nd International Conference of the European Society for the History of Science” organitzada a Cracòvia (Polònia) el Setembre 6-9, 2006 sota el títol “The Global and The Local: The History of Science and the Cultural Integration of Europe” va tenir com idea central quatre línies bàsiques:
- el diàleg crític entre Europa i els altres continents,
- entre parts diferents d'Europa,
- entre països diferents tant grans com petits; i finalment,
- entre els cercles de llengües diverses, llengües nacionals i no nacionals caracteritzant alhora disciplines diferents.
A mes de les directrius indicades va pretendre abordar tant els aspectes globals com els punts de vista mes particulars. "Global i local" son complementaris i constituint el cor del procés anomenat “integració cultural” a Europa.
